Obituary
Edwin H. Kluemper, age 92, of Washington passed away at 6:50 p.m. Thursday at the Heritage House in Greensburg. He had been seriously ill since August. Born October 9, 1918 in Jasper he was the son of Herman and Clara (Hopf) Kluemper. He attended Jasper High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a POW of WWII for three years and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He retired from the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Post Office. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2366. He is survived by eight sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Sharon Kluemper of Washington, James and Louise Kluemper, Paul Kluemper, Don and Rita Kluemper, and Phillip Kluemper all of Indianapolis, Ron and Linda Kluemper of Olympia, Wash., Tony and Edie Kluemper of Mayfield, Ky., and Ed and Debbie Kluemper of Milroy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Bill McLin and Rosie and Don Kelso, all of Washington and Yvonne and Bill Klees of Evansville; three step-children, Madora (Nelson) and Steve Bennett, Dorinda Nelson and Michael Nelson; a sister, Mary Broeker of Huntingburg; 25 grandchildren; 3 stepgrandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret (Malloy) Kluemper; his second wife Mary Lou (Nelson) Kluemper; a son, Karl Kluemper; a daughter-in-law Kimberly Kluemper; a granddaughter, Kristen Kelso; two brothers, Andrew and Robert Kluemper; and two sisters, Margaret burger and Rosemary Kluemper. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ed Lee Mortuary. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by the Washington American Legion and VFW.
