Ed was my Dad's brother. Growing up, going back to Indiana (we live in Iowa) was our annual "vacation". Our central spot, during this vacation, was Grandma and Grandpa Kluemper. We saw Ed during these trips. But, when Ed came to Iowa, he was magical. He was bigger than life. He always took the scenic route from Indiana to Iowa. He met more people in those trips than most of us meet in a lifetime. He made my Dad (Robert) step out of his patriarchal duties and become a free-spirit for a short time. He made us all laugh in an uninhibited manner. I thank you for the time Ed made us all have fun.

Ed was my Dad's (Robert) brother. We lived in Iowa growing up and Ed was a prankster when he would visit and we loved him dearly. Well...there were times when Mother didn't feel the love but she always got over it. I remember at my High School graduation - Catholic High School - there I sat in my cap and gown waiting to walk up and get my diploma and out of nowhere Ed shows up and sets a newborn baby on my lap...and says quite loudy 'Here - I'm tired of taking care of your baby.' Now - Catholic Schools 35 years ago were nothing like the Catholic Schools of today. They were strict. I still remember looking up into the bleachers at my Mom and Dad and seeing them laughing and laughing. That wasn't the end of his shenanigans that day either...he just happened to wear a black suit and black shirt with a white tie...so at the end of the graduation ceremony - when it was time for the class to walk out in single file ahead of everybody...Ed didn't want to wait - so he twirled his white tie around (making it look like a priest's collar) and walked out in procession with the priests ahead of everyone. Ed definitely holds a special place in my heart and in the hearts of all of us. He will be missed...but always remembered with undying love. Susan (Kluemper) Schulz
