Obituary

Mary "Joyce" (Mangin) Brochin, 79, passed during the evening hours of February 23, 2023, at the Daviess Community Hospital. She was born in Montgomery, Indiana, May 9, 1943, to Austin A. and Thelma E. (Capehart) Mangin. On November 22, 1962, she married Robert "Larry" Brochin , and he survives.

Joyce was a 1961 graduate of Montgomery High School. She was a cook at the Washington Catholic Elementary School for thirty-one years. A lady who devoted her time to the service of others, Joyce volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul, and was a Pink Lady at the Daviess Community Hospital. Known to be a wonderful cook, she was on the church's Bereavement Committee preparing many funeral meals, and often cooked and baked for others in need. She was an avid supporter of Washington Catholic Sports, the WC Booster Club, and Band Boosters. She loved to watch old Westerns and was an Elvis fan. However, her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends playing cards and traveling.
Joyce was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, and the Our Lady of Hope Choir.

Those who now mourn Joyce's passing include her husband, Robert "Larry" Brochin; her children: Brenda (Rob) Dyer of Evansville; Robert H. Brochin (Julia Cruse) of Jasonville; and Bryan (Christina) Brochin of Cary, North Carolina. Joyce was blessed with six grandchildren: Jocelyn, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Noah, Nina, and Nicholas; and four great-grandchildren: Elijah, King, Kash, and Chanlee. She leaves four siblings: Patty Brothers of Vincennes; Kenny (Dosia) Mangin of Montgomery; Mike (Mary Rose) Mangin of Loogootee; and Linda (Pat) Mullen of Jasper.
