Leland Williams

November 26, 1933 - March 19, 2022

Obituary

Leland Ray Williams was born on Nov. 26, 1933, to Aaron Thomas Williams and Sylvia May Child in Ogden, Utah. He was the youngest of four children. He died on March 19, 2022, of natural causes while surrounded by his loving family.

Lee's father died when he was seven years old leaving him and his widowed mother to run a large orchard and farm. This is where he developed a special relationship with his mother and a very strong work ethic that served him well throughout his life.

Lee graduated from Ogden High School in 1952 and joined the Naval Reserve. While working at the American Foods Grocery Store he met the love of his life, Janet Morris. They wed a short time later and were married for 69 years and enjoyed raising a wonderful family of six children and three Indian Placement foster children. Lee was a very dedicated father who never missed one of his children's events whether wrestling, baseball, football, or cheer.

His versatility, skills, and talents were evident in his many jobs that helped define who he was. He delivered news papers and milk, sold vacuums, owned a service station, and finally retired while working at Hill Air Force Base. His favorite job came after retirement when he drove a school bus for Box Elder School District. He had a special fondness for the kindergarten children.

Lee served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of his favorite callings were serving with his wife at the county jail in the Addiction Recovery Program, as stake missionaries, at the Bishop's storehouse, and especially their proselyting mission in the Palmyra area (Rochester, New York Mission) where they served at church history sites, the Hill Cumorah pageant as well as serving the many people in the Batavia area. They were grateful that all their children and many grandchildren visited them while they were serving there.

Lee was preceded in death by his mother, and father, his three siblings, Vera, Norma and Eldon, daughters Terri Lynn Williams, Jana Lee Williams Armstrong, and foster child Charles Manuel Rodriquez and three great-grandchildren. Lee is survived by his wife, Janet Morris Williams, and children, Brian (Machiel) Williams, Todd (Alison) Williams, Brad (Robin) Williams, Tamara (Kirk) Morgan, his son-in-law Kesler Armstrong, 18 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express thanks to Gables Assisted Living and Aegis hospice for their loving care.
