Obituary
Roger L. Shields age 60 of Washington passed away at 7:00 PM on Saturday at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born on September 3, 1948 in Las Angles, California to Charles E. and Betty L. (Melcom) Shields He was a 1967 graduate of English Sterling High School. He was a US Air Force Vietnam Veteran having served two years in Vietnam. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Washington Moose Lodge, Country Oaks Golf Association Men's League, and City of Washington Zoning Appeals Board where he was president. He was a past member of the Washington Jay-cees. The passed two years he worked at White River Automotive. He had also worked at Stone City Bank for 16 years. He is survived by his wife, Debra (Williams) Shields whom he married on October 14, 1972; one daughter and son in-law, Karmen and Arthur Hunter of Washington, three grandchildren, Blake Hunter, Brady Hunter, and Bryanna Hunter all of Washington; his mother, Betty Shields of Washington; one sister and brother in-law, Charlenne and Richard Cook of English; one brother Terry G. Shields of Washington; mother and father in-law, William and Bernadette Williams of Canelburg; three sisters in-law, Theresa (Tim) Showalter of Montgomery, Sally (Tony) Showalter of Washington, and Kathy (Danny) Bowling of Vincennes; two brothers in-law, Alan (Linda) of Vincennes and Stuart (Kris)Williams of Danville; several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Shields. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Bill Wargel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM at Our lady of Hope Catholic Church and on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
