Obituary

James D. Padgett, age 89, of Washington, passed away at 4:25 AM Sunday, March 8, 2020 as Eastgate Nursing Home.


James was born on December 2, 1930 in Washington to Herman and Sarah Elva (Mattingly) Padgett. He was retired from Superior Steel Ball. After retirement he enjoyed spending his time gardening and reading.


He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Stephenson) Padgett whom he married on February 28, 1952; one daughter, Becky (Wes) King of California; one son, Mike (Debbie) Padgett of Washington; four grandchildren, Justin King, Brandy Memolo, Shawn Padgett, and Mellisa Green; and five great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Jane Padgett; four sisters, Camilla Embry, Betty Wych, Lillian Masters, and Zella Arnold; three brothers, Everett Padgett, Ed Padgett, and Bernard Padgett.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel 620 East Viola Avenue with Father Juan Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW


Visitation will be from 1:00 PM till service time on Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel.
