Obituary

Jeanne Heekin Graham died peacefully at her home in Washington, Indiana Tuesday morning, September 23, 2008. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 4, 1913 to Daniel M. and Crescentia (Verkamp) Heekin. She attended Trinity College in Washington DC and graduated from the University of Cincinnati. In 1946, she married Robert C. Graham, Jr. of Washington, IN and he preceded her in death in 2001. Mrs. Graham was an active volunteer in the community, helping to found the Pink Ladies at the Daviess Community Hospital, the Rosemary Kennedy School, and a bible reading group at a local nursing center. She was named a member of the National Council for Retarded Citizens and served on the board of the Muscatatuck State Hospital. Mrs. Graham was committed to her Catholic faith. She was a member of the National Council of Catholic Women, and was involved in raising funds and renovating the former St. Simon Catholic Church of Washington. She is survived by four children, Robert C. Graham, III (Bonnie) of Washington, IN; Julie Sargent of Tampa, FL; Carolyn Farrell (Kevin) of St. Louis, MO; and Jeannie Canada (Howard) of St. Louis, MO; eleven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Daniel M. Heekin, Jr., and one sister, Winifred Heekin Graham. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Robert N. Lynch, Bishop of St. Petersburg, FL, the Very Reverend Gerald A. Gettelfinger, Bishop of Evansville, IN and Reverend Gordon Mann, Pastor, as con-celebrants. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be at Ed Lee Mortuary from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday with a wake service at 3:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Catholic Education Endowment, Inc., P.O.
