Virginia (Mattingly) Eskew, age 83, of Washington forlerly of Loogootee passed away at 11:15 AM on Friday at her residence. She was BORN ON March 19, 1928 in Glezen, to Millard and Neoma (Cook) Shoultz. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee and Washington Ladies of the Moose. She had worked at Sarkes Tarzan, RCA, and NSWC Crane. She is survived by two daughters Marilyn Colvin of Washington and Virginia Sue (Larry) Nahler of Stanley, N.C.; nine sons, Michael J. (Brenda) Mattingly of Mooresville, John S. (Carolyn) Mattingly of Santa Claus, Norbert D. Mattingly of Loogootee, Jim (Sandy) Mattingly of Nashville, Tenn., Guy (Jane) Mattingly of Washington, Bill (Sally) Mattingly of Dubois, and Ernie Mattingly, Alan Mattingly, and Chris (Vicky) Mattingly all of Loogootee; twenty seven grandchildren; forty five great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her fist husband Norbert J. Mattingly on March 13, 1988; two sisters, Velma Manning and Ruby Wilson; one brother, Bill Shoultz; and one son in-law, Dan Colvin. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday at St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee with Father Leo Kiesel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 PM on Sunday at St. John Catholic Church.
