Obituary
John E Baumert age 93 of Bloomington passed away at 9:50 AM on Thursday June 17, 2010 at The Residence at McCormick's Creek. He was born on September 4, 1916 in Washington to Andrew and Lillie M. (Wathen) Baumert. He married Rachel Lorene Wininger on October 27, 1934. He worked for Graham Farms before moving to Detroit Michigan in 1941. There, he worked for the New York Central Railroad. Later he worked for Ellis Trucking until his retirement. In his retirement he traveled throughout the United States and enjoyed reading and watching Westerns as well as playing cards. He is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Paul) Hill of Westland, Michigan, and Carolyn S. (Bruce) Grefke of Livonia, Michigan; one son, John H.(Jean) Baumert of Bloomington; one sister, Eleanor Smith of Olney, Illinois; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lorene Baumert on May 5, 1981; two grandchildren, Lisa (Grefke) Crockett and Gregory Hill; three brothers, Robert, Tony and Joseph Baumert; and five sisters, Emma Hurst, Louise Grove, Mary Alice Reel,Margie Reel and Ruth Cox. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Churchwith Father Loe Kiesel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 on Sunday at Ed Lee Mortuary in Washington, Indiana Memorial donations may be sent to The American Heart Association or the charity of one's choice.
