Obituary

Patrick A. Clauss age 60 of Shelburn formerly of Washington passed away on Friday at 12:36 PM. at Sullivan County Community Hospital in Sullivan. He was born on March 2, 1949 in Washington to Robert L. and Kathryn (Way) Clauss. He had attended Washington Catholic Schools and was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was owner and operator of Clauss Shoe Repair from 1987 to 1990, he then went on to work for Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle, Indiana. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sullivan, Sullivan American Legion Post 139, Sullivan Moose Lodge #2517, Washington Eagles, and was a life member of the Sullivan County VFW Post 2459. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Fitzgerald) Clauss whom he married on November 29, 1990; one daughter Nikki Clauss Lunsford of Washington. One son and daughter in-law, Brad and Staci Clauss of Washington; two step sons, Richie Burton of Winslow and Chad Burton of Shelburn; two brothers, Gregory L. Clauss of Denver, Colorado and Joseph L. Clauss of Washington; seven grandchildren., Michael Clauss of Louisville, Ky., Emily Lunsford of Washington, Kayla Clauss of Louisville, Ky., Haven Lunsford, Kenzi Lunsford, Jacob Clauss, and Hannah Clause all of Washington; and four step grandchildren, Aaron Burton of Odon, Kyle Burton and Kendra Burton both of Washington, and Emma Burton of Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Clauss; and one sister, Mary Lynn Trester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Washington. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery with Military Grave side Rites by Sullivan, Shelburn, and Hymera American Legions and Sullivan County VFW. . Visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM on Monday at Ed Lee Mortuary in Washington Memorial donations my be sent to Washington Catholic Education Endowment P.O..Box 916- Washington, Indiana 47501.
