John Brent Mattingly, age 53, of Poseyville, passed away at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Daviess Community Hospital. Born September 23, 1958 in Washington, he was the son of Ira and Janet (Davis) Mattingly. He was a 1977 graduate of Washington High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He was an avid deer hunter and loved any kind of outdoor activity that included wildlife. Brent had a passion for thoroughbred horse racing. His work took him through several career opportunities; certified auto and diesel mechanic, auto sales, cabinet maker, and most recently retail fertilizer business. He was a member of North Posey Community Church. Surviving is his wife, Renee (Miller) Mattingly, whom he married August 27, 2004; his parents; a brother, Brian (Erin) Mattingly of Noblesville; a sister, Lisa (Greg) Blackburn of Washington; four nieces; four nephews; three great-nieces; and three great nephews.. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Davis, Gladys and William "Bud" Mattingly, and Inez and Walter Mattingly. Funeral services will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Ed Lee Mortuary with Pastor Lee Brown officiating. Visitation will be 3 p.m. hour of service Wednesday at the mortuary.
