Obituary

 


 Donna Louise Bullock, age 84, of Indianapolis, IN, peacefully passed into our Lords comfort and care on March 12, 2020.  Donna was born February 6, 1936 to Joseph Earl and Lena Katherine (Rodgers) Bullock in Washington, Indiana where she grew up and started her family.  She and family moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1964. During her time in Albuquerque, she was quite accomplished having received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in education from the University of New Mexico and successfully establishing a career as a language arts middle school teacher.  Upon retirement, Donna returned to her Indiana roots 37 years later and joined the community at Autumn Glen in Indianapolis, IN. 


 


In her younger years, she enjoyed the wide-open spaces and mountains of New Mexico, swimming, square dancing, crossword puzzles and gardening.  She had a thirst for knowledge and education and loved reading, especially history, religion, and philosophy.  Donna has been a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and most recently was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Indianapolis.


 


Donna is survived by her sons, Deacon Michael J. (Anne) Wise of Bossier City, LA and James A. (Dr. Renee Willis) Wise of Little Rock, AR; daughters, Deborah L. (Raymond) Turner of Greenfield, IN and Dr. Emma K. (Dr. Bryan) Dutton of Monmouth, OR; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; brother, Roger (Cindy) Bullock of Evansville, IN; sisters, Doris (Jack) Ott of Englewood, FL and Janice (Ron) Mitchell of North Port, Florida; and her most beloved dog, Phoebe May.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lena Bullock; husband, William Vollendorf; son, Paul Wise; great-grandson, Manuel Robles; and brother, Michael Lee Bullock.


 


A private family celebration of life will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in Washington, Indiana where Donna will be laid to rest.


 


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to Holy Spirit Catholic Church and/or School, located at 7243 E. 10th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219 or any St. Vincent de Paul.
