Obituary
James Micheal Ray, 61, passed away during the evening of January 21, 2025, while at the Jasper Memorial Hospital. He was born in Washington, August 5, 1963, the son of Larry Ray and Nancy K. (Weibel) DeVore.
James was a 1981 graduate of Barr-Reeve High School. He was employed as a machine operator at Jasper Chair. A man of many talents, James was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed working on cars. He was known to always be working on some kind of project in his garage. James was a member of the Fountain of Life Church UPC in Washington. He played bass at the church for thirty-five years.
Those who now cherish James' memory include his daughter, Madison (Noah Tuck) Ray of Bloomington and his son, Parker Ray of Alfordsville. James leaves two brothers: Larry (Ameila) Ray of Washington; Scott Ray of Alfordsville; and his best friend of more than twenty years, Rick Tinkle of Paoli.
During his lifetime, James mourned the loss of his parents, Larry Ray and Nancy DeVore.
Visitation for James Ray will be 4:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the Fountain of Life Church UPC, 1600 South 75 East, Washington, Indiana.
Funeral services for James Ray will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Fountain of Life Church UPC, 1600 South 75 East, Washington, Indiana. Pastor Scott Dyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove-Reeve Township Cemetery, Cannelburg, Indiana.
