Obituary
With her family by her side, Edith (Phillippe) Haag, 94, passed away at her Eastgate Manor residence on December 20, 2024. Born April 9, 1930, in Washington, she was the daughter of Russell and Nellie (Edwards) Phillippe. On October 27, 1951, she married James L. Haag. Together they created a loving home for their family until James' passing on August 12, 2017.
Edith was a 1948 graduate of Washington Catholic High School. Her last employment was deli manager at the Larkin Red and White. She enjoyed reading mysteries, and knitting. Possessing a generous spirit, Edith gave of her time for volunteer work and always loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
Those who now cherish Edith's memory include her daughter, Debbie (Brad) Devine of Washington; Greg Haag of Washington; Gary (Lori) Haag of Washington; Randy (Mary) Haag of Washington; J.R. (Julia) Haag in North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
During her lifetime, Edith mourned the loss of her parents, Russell and Nellie Phillippe; her husband, James L. Haag; grandson, Bryan Haag; and siblings: James Phillippe, Robert Phillippe, Betty Phillippe, and Bonnie Lucas.
Visitation for Edith Haag will be 10:00 - 11:00 am, Monday, December 23, 2024, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 315 NE 3rd Street, Washington, Indiana.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated (following the visitation) at 11:00 am, Monday, December 23, 2024, also at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Father Paul Ferguson will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.
