Obituary
Dennis Jenne, Sr., 80, passed away while at the Daviess Community Hospital during the evening hours of October 26, 2024. He was born in Petersburg on April 3, 1944, the son of Charles F. and Dorothy (Hawkins) Jenne. On December 7, 1963, Dennis married the love of his life, Rebecca S. (Cissell) Jenne. Together, they created a loving home for themselves and their children until Rebecca's death on December 30, 2022.
Prior to his retirement, Dennis was employed at the Eaton Monument Company for fifty-two years. He enjoyed keeping up with family and friends on Facebook and looked forward to his Saturday afternoon drives with his son, Dennis, Jr. He attended the Vincennes Avenue Wesleyan Church.
Those who now cherish Dennis' memory include his son, Dennis (Diana) Jenne, Jr. of Washington; and Gloria (Allen) Williams of Vincennes. Dennis was blessed with six grandchildren: Dennis "DJ" Jenne III; Shane (Catie) Jenne; Eli (Cassie Dillon) Jenne; Alex Jenne; Chelsea Scott; and Briana Jenne. Additionally, Dennis leaves four great-grandchildren and a brother, Jerry (Sandra) Wolven of Washington.
Shane Jenne, one of Dennis' grandsons, leaves this touching tribute: "We lost one of the most hard-working, stubborn, and kind-hearted men, that I had the honor of calling my grandpa. He taught me the importance of being well-ordered and persistent. I hope to continue to push those lessons down. Tell Grandma I said, 'Hi."
During his lifetime, Dennis mourned the loss of his father, Charles F. Jenne; his mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Rentis "Buck" Wolven; his beloved wife, Rebecca Jenne; infant daughter, Dorothy Shane Jenne; infant grandson, Brandon Lee Jenne; brothers: David Wolven, Charles Jenne, Franklin Jenne; and sister, Sue Pilot.
Visitation for Dennis Jenne, Sr., will be 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.
Funeral services for Dennis Jenne, Sr. will immediately follow the visitation on October 30, 2024, and begin at 1:00 pm, also at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary. Pastor Jewel Gilley will officiate. Dennis will be laid to rest beside his wife, Rebecca, in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
