Joyce (Turner) Poland, 89, passed away during the early morning hours of August 6, 2024. She was born in Allendale, Illinois, February 5, 1935, to Eugene and Edna (Newkirk) Turner. On June 9, 1975, she married Dale Poland and they made their home together for the next forty-nine years.

Joyce graduated from Oakland City College with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She was a kindergarten teacher. She also was in retail sales for Hickory Farms while she and Dale lived in Texas. There, they also owned and operated a restaurant. Joyce was known for her baking skills - especially cookies and yeast rolls. She loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener with flowers and vegetables. In later years, she was an activities director at a couple of area nursing homes. Joyce was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.

Those who now mourn Joyce's passing include her husband, Dale Poland; sons: Bradley (Jane) Buchanan of Bridgeport, Illinois; Mike (Barbara) Buchanan of Carbondale, Illinois; and Patrick (Kathy) Buchanan of Terre Haute. Joyce was blessed with six grandchildren: Amy (Ray) Barry; Andy (Shelly) Saltink; Elizabeth (Brandon) Fleck; Nicholas (Brittany) Buchanan; Hannah (Dustin) Self; and Jeremy (Kara) Buchanan. She also leaves twelve great-grandchildren and a sister, Sue Cisel of St. Charles, Missouri.

During her lifetime, Joyce mourned the loss of her parents, Eugene and Edna Turner; her daughter, Marcheta Saltink; and three great-grandsons who died in infancy.

Visitation for Joyce Poland will be 4:00 - 8:00 pm, Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Christ United Methodist Church, 104 North Meridian Street, Washington, Indiana.

Funeral Services for Joyce Poland will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Christ United Methodist Church, 104, North Meridian Street, Washington, Indiana. Pastors Jerry Turner and Jen Weaver will officiate.

A graveside service for Joyce Poland will be held at 12:30 pm, EST, Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Allendale Cemetery in Allendale, Illinois, County Road 2020 North, North Allendale, Illinois 62410.
