Sarah C. Matthews, 91, passed away at the Daviess Community Hospital on November 8, 2023. She was born in Washington on October 7, 1932, to Lawrence G. and Florence I. (Doyle) Matthews. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.

Those who now mourn Sarah's passing include her niece and guardian, Nancy Fitch of Greenwood, as well as several other nieces and nephews.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Lawrence Matthews; six sisters: Hilda Day, Florence Dant, Isabella (Gates) Bradley, Imogene Kent, Alberta Porter, Marcella Matthews; and five brothers: Lawrence Matthews, Ben Matthews, Julian Matthews, Patrick Matthews, and Joseph "Mike" Matthews.

Visitation for Sarah C. Matthews will be 9:30 - 10:30 am, Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 315 NE 3rd Street, Washington.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Sarah C. Matthews immediately following the visitation on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, beginning at 10:30 am. Father Paul Ferguson will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery - Barr Township.
