Obituary

Phyllis Briggeman, 80, passed away at her Washington residence the morning of October 31, 2022. She was born November 13, 1941, to Fredrick and Elizabeth (Branaman) Mangin. On June 16, 1962, Phyllis married the love of her life, John Briggeman. Together they made a loving home for their four children until his passing on October 14, 2020.

A graduate of Washington Catholic High School, Phyllis was retired from Walmart where she was a customer services manager. In her younger years, she enjoyed painting - working in oils creating still life paintings. Phyllis loved spending time with her family and especially loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Phyllis was known to be an avid basketball fan, always following her favorite players and teams. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Devout in her faith, Phyllis was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, helped with funeral meals, and prayed in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.

Those who now mourn Phyllis' passing include her children: Edwin (Mendee) Briggeman of Indianapolis; Anita (Gary) Dunt; Karla (Jack) Mahan; and Amy (Dale) Schmitz, all of Washington. Phyllis was blessed with ten grandchildren: Courtney Watkins; Jamie Watkins; Matthew Mahan; Emily Mahan; Shane Briggeman; Ethan Briggeman; Madeline Briggeman; Eric Briggeman; Paige Schmitz; and Calliope Schmitz. She leaves four beloved great-grandchildren: Sean; Xavier; Magdalene; and Kolton. Additionally, Phyllis leaves two sisters: Lynn (Rob) Burkhardt of Louisville; and Patricia Adams of Evansville.

During her life, Phyllis mourned the loss of her parents, Fredrick and Elizabeth Mangin; her husband, John Briggeman; and her sister, Charlotte Keiser.

The family suggests that donations can be made in Phyllis' memory to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, or to the charity of one's choice.
