Obituary

Ray P. Krodel, 79, passed away while at the Daviess Community Hospital, July 13, 2021. He was born in Washington, October 6, 1941, to Gertrude and Radius Krodel. On May 26, 1961, Ray married the love of his life, Marilyn Sue Krodel. They were blessed with a large family, and were happily married until her death on April 15, 2004

Ray was formerly an employee of McCords; owned and operated, along with his wife, Marilyn's Used Furniture Store; and was a self-employed carpenter for many years. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Those who now cherish Ray's memory include his daughters: Jacqueline Mott, Nikki (Chris) Kirk, Angela Krodel, Kim (Brad) Lawyer, Danielle Krodel, and Morgan Krodel. Ray leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Doug Mott, Jr., Kyla Mott, Brian Austin, Mark Kirk, Lane Krodel, Gage Charles, Marilyn Charles, Brandon Latham, Megan Latham, Blake Latham, Zach (Misty) Johnson, Emma (Austin) Taylor, and Dream Krodel. Through the years, Ray's family continued to grow until he was blessed with several great-grandchildren: Hannah Mott, Drake Mott, Kamden Mott, Reece Mott, Jaycesten Austin, Adleigh Austin, Olivia Austin, Amelia Donaldson, Madison Deckard, Abi Deckard, Leyton Davis, Xarian Davis, Zach Johnson, Jr., Carley Johnson, Lexi Johnson, Oliver Taylor, and Ava Johnson, and another great-grandchild is on the way. Ray also leaves behind his special friend, Debra Nail.

During his life, Ray mourned the loss of his parents, Gertrude and Radius Krodel, brothers, Clyde Krodel and Carl Krodel; sister, Bonnie Eck; and nephew, Brad Krodel

Visitation for Ray P. Krodel is planned for Saturday, July 17, 2021, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at the Ed Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington IN. The funeral will immediately follow at the Ed Lee Mortuary at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jewel Gilley officiating. Ray will be laid to rest beside his wife, Marilyn, in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
