Obituary

Daniel L. "Dan" Colvin, 58, of Washington passed away at 4:25 p.m. Monday at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis. Born February 3, 1950 in Daviess County, he was the son of Patrick and Margie (Doyle) Colvin Jr. He was a 1969 graduate of Barr Reeve High School, a US Navy Veteran, and a member of the Montgomery Ruritan Club. He was a member of the American Legion Post 121 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3321 where he was part of the burial honor guard. He loved camping, riding his golf cart, and spending time with his family. Surviving is his wife, Marilyn (Mattingly) Colvin, whom he married August 4, 1973; two sons, Shawn Michael Colvin of Washington and Thomas Hansson of Stockholm, Sweden; a daughter, Danyelle Rena Sisco and future son-in-law Barry Widner both of Montgomery; his parents, Pat and Margie Colvin Jr of Corning; his mother-in-law, Virginia (Mattingly) Eskew of Loogootee; three brothers, David Colvin of Corning, Michael Colvin of Loogootee, and Neil Colvin of Haysville; two sisters, Mary Ann Kensek of Plainville and Carol Saul of Corning; six grandchildren, Hania Marie Sisco, James Daniel Sisco and Jacob Gordon Sisco all of Montgomery, Brittany Shayne and Dylan Harding Widner of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Tristan Dakota Widner of Owensboro, Ky. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Patrick and Anna Colvin and Michael and Mary Doyle, and his father-in-law, Norbert Mattingly. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Montgomery with Father James Koressel as celebrant. Burial will follow in Glenco Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary with a wake service at 3:30 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.edleemortuary.com.
