Obituary

William "Dirk" Combs, age 47, of Washington passed away at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. Born June 1, 1960 in Evansville, he was the son of Bill and Vera (Gammon)Combs. He attended St. Simon Catholic Church and served on the Washington YMCA Board, the Renal Network Board, and was a member of the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization. He was an IHSAA swimming referee and volunteered with the Washington High School Athletic Department. Surviving is his wife, Pamela "Pam" (McCormick) Combs, whom he married March 31, 1979; one daughter, Amber Combs of Atlanta, GA; his father and step-mother, Bill and Betty Combs of Greenwood; two sisters, Lisa Rogers of Greenwood and Tracie Brown of Indianapolis; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carolyn and Norm Bouchie; six nieces and nephews, Libby Rogers, Zachary Combs, and Will, Joe, Abby, and Margaret McCormick. He is preceded in death by his mother, Vera Combs, who died in December 1978. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church with a wake service at 3:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to IOPO, 429 N.
