Robert Friede age 76 of Crane passed away at 11:10 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Manor Nursing Center. He was born August 22, 1931 in St. Clairsville, Ohio to Edward and Stella (Padgele) Friede. He served for 4 years in US Army and 4 years US Marine Corp before retiring from military service. Wile in service he received a purple heart and served in the Korean War and also was an artillery instructor for cadets at West Point during the Vietnam War. After his military service he spent 20 with the Indiana Army National Guard. He then worked at NSWC at Crane till his retirement. Surviving is seven sons, Jim Friede of Linton, Bob Friede, of Odon, Jeff Friede Sr. of Jasper, Jeff Friede of Crane, Kristopher Friede of Crane, Robert Friede and Thomas Friede both of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Jessica Friede and Sara Friede both of Linton, Haidyn Arvin of Evansville, Jacob Friede of Loogootee, and Bobby Friede of Odon; four great grandchildren; and one sister Linda Dutcher of St. Clairsville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife Lynda Rose (Guthrie) Friede on February 17, 2004 whom he had married on April of 1960; and one brother Richard Friede and sister Shirley are also deceased. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Harvest Community Church in rural Bloomfield. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be made online at www.edleemortuary.com
