Obituary

William 'Bud' Mattingly age 77 passed away on Monday at 8:12 PM at Deaconess Gateway Hospital at Newburgh. He had been seriously ill for six weeks. He was born on May 29, 1929 in Martin County to Walter C. and Inez (Borders) Mattingly. He attended Washington Catholic Schools and was a US Veteran of the Korean War were he served two years over seas. Surviving are his wife Gladys (Purdue) Mattingly whom he married on December 21, 1957; two sons and daughters in-law, Timothy Alan and Bonita Mattingly of Washington and Steve and Karen Mattingly of Washington; two step daughters Marilyn Gregory and Janet Mattingly both of Washington; two step sons Robert Davis of Washington and Danny O'Bryan of Indianapolis. Three grandchildren Lindsey Mattingly, Holly Mattingly and Abbie Mattingly all of Washington; 15 step grandchildren; 44 step great grandchildren; 16 step great great grandchildren; four brothers Louis 'Eddie" Mattingly, Ira Mattingly, Danny Mattingly, and James Vernon Mattingly all of Washington; and one sister, Sue Lee of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Tom Mattingly, Robert "Pork" Mattingly, and Joseph Dale Mattingly; and one step daughter, Leanna Strange. Funeral services will be on Friday at 1:00 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary with Yvonne Evans officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
