Obituary

Bernice W. Sturgeon, 87, Washington, died Sunday at 7:55 PM at Daviess Community Hospital. Born January 7, 1919 in Washington, she was the daughter of William and Maude (Gilley) Drew. She attended Jefferson Schools and had worked for Reliance, Armor, and the Washington School Corp. She was a Charter member of Central Christian. She loved making quilts and watching NBA with her grandchildren. She is survived by three sons; John Sturgeon, Washington, Edwin Sturgeon, Petersburg, Leslie Sturgeon, Washington, a daughter; Patricia Sturgeon Cresgy, Washington, three sisters; Freda Fleenor, Washington State, Imogene Arthur, Washington, Henrietta Carroll, Cornettsville, ten grandchildren; Keith and Doug Williams, Washington, Wade Sturgeon, Vincennes, Kristin Goodwin, Raleigh, NC, Matthew and J.R. Sturgeon, Petersburg, Jason, Erin, and Jonathan Sturgeon, Washington, and Noah Sturgeon, Indianapolis, and 17 great-grandchildren. She married Leslie Sturgeon, Sr. on October 9, 1935 and he died November 17, 1973. Also preceding her in death are her parents, one sister, Lillian Baumert, and a grandson, Peter John Williams. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Rev. Jim Patton officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday and from 12 noon to 1:30 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary. Preferred memorials are to Feed My Sheep. Online condolences may be sent to www.edleemortuary.com.
