Obituary

Barbara (Emmons) Cassidy age 73 of Washington passed away at 7:24 AM Wednesday at the home of her daughter. She was born on November 6, 1933 in Washington to the late Lowell and Elma (Hitch) Burris. She attended Washington High School. She had worked at the Daviess County Courthouse, the White Steamer and Evans Shoe Store. She Married her first husband Robert Emmons on January 24,1953 and he preceded her in death on September 19, 1993. She married her second husband, George Cassidy on April 10, 1995 and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2006. Surviving are one son, Robert Emmons Jr. of Washington; four daughters, Maria Deel, Sherry Meinhart and Jeanne Barnard all of Washington and Kimmy Armes of Anderson, SC; three brothers Robert Burris, Jimmy Burris, and Dickie Burris all of Washington; three step sons, John Cassidy of Holland, In.; Robert Cassidy and Tim Cassidy both of Washington ; one step daughter Teresa Cassidy of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by one grandson, Clayton Armes; one step son, Mark Cassidy; two sisters, Lucille Grannan, and Margie Brothers; one brother, Charles Burris. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Ed Lee Mortuary with Pastor James Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary.
