Sylvia Laura (Ray) McDonald age 81 of Washington passed away at 4:00 a.m. Monday at Hillside Manor Nursing Home. Born May 27, 1926 in Coldwater Mississippi, she was the daughter of Jep Walker and Winifred (Nation) Ray. She was a 1944 graduate of Coldwater High School, and attended Northwest Junior College in Senatobia, Mississippi. She was a member of the Central Christian Church for 56 years and had worked as a supervisor for Uniroyal. She was a 50+ year member of the Eastern Star. Surviving is her husband, William McDonald, whom she married October 22, 1945 in Senatobia, MS; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Mangin of Washington; two granddaughters and their husbands, Cheryl and Troy Pride and Brenda and Chris Hurt all of Washington; threes sisters, Erlene Lucas of Memphis, TN, Emma Farrow and Marie Crockett both of Independence, MS; and four great grandchildren, Katelyn Hurt, Andrea Hurt, Tori Pride, and Will Pride all of Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Aaron, Morris, Norris, Elihue, and Boyce Ray. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Pastor James Payton officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery.
