Gregory E. "Greg" Guy, age 51, of Jasper, passed away at 11:51 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. He was born on August 20, 1962 in Washington to George and Janice (Roach) Guy. He was a 1980 graduate of Washington High School. He was a retired US Army Veteran, serving two tours in Iraq during the Iraq War. He received two accommodation medals, seven Army achievement medals, and several other military service awards during his 24 year military career. He was an avid fisherman and his greatest passion was spending time with his family. He is survived by his fiance, Sandy Bauer of Jasper; two daughters, Emily Guy of Jasper, and Lindsay Guy of Washington; one son, Gregory Guy Jr. of Washington; his father, George "Butch" Guy of Washington; two sisters, Alicia Adams and her husband John of Washington, and Michele Yenser and her husband Tony of McDonough, Ga.; grandchildren; Braydon McIntyre of Washington, Avallyn Guy of Jasper. He is preceded in death by his mother Janice (Roach) Guy. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 2 to 8 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary in Washington and on Thursday from 9 to 11 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Haysville, with Pastor Charles Grieves officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 PM at St. John Cemetery in Washington with full military rites by the Military Ceremonial Unit.
