Obituary

Leon Riney age 84 of Washington passed away on Wednesday at 10;45 AM at Washington Nursing Center. He was born on May 4, 1922 in Washington to the late James and Lucy (Wathen) Riney. He was a world War II Army Veteran and was a Member of St. Simon Catholic Church. After the war he worked for Graham Farms as a truck driver till he and his twin brother Leo went into partnership on the Phillip 66 Service Station together in early 60s. He also drove a school bus for a number of years. After he and Leo sold the service station he went to work for Nolan's Liquor Store after retiring from Nolan's he worked part time as a greeter at Wal-Mart. Leon was a member of St Simon Catholic Church, Washington American Legion, Knights of Columbus and Washington F.O.P. Surviving are two sons and daughters in-law. Steve and Pat Riney of Washington and Ken and Jan Riney of Terre Haute; six grandchildren, Cindy Sherman of Evansville, Melissa Traylor of St. Joes, Michigan, Christy Riney of Ft. Wayne, Eric Shrader of Salem, Indiana, Shane Stephens of Danville, Indiana and Matt Riney of West Lafayette; 3 great grandchildren; and three sisters Leona Petty of Washington, Norma Oathout and Camilla Smith both of Indinapolis. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Leo, Austin, Lawrence, and Robert Riney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM as St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery with Military graveside rites by Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 8 PM at St. Simon Catholic Church with a wake service at 4 PM and a K of C Rosary at 7 PM CONDOLENCES may be made online at www.edleemortuary.com Ed Lee Mortuary is in charge of arrangements
