Obituary

Joseph V. "Joe" O'Brian, age 79, of Washington, passed away on Thursday at 11:45 AM at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. . He was born on September 21st 1929 in Washington to Walter and Dora (Clements) O'Brian. He was a 1948 graduate of Montgomery High School and was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and American Legion. He was a route salesman for Sunbeam Bread for 14 years, managed and operated O'Brian Sunoco, owned and managed O'Bs Lawn and Garden, and was an early owner of Beamon's Dressing business. He helped establish the Catholic Education Endowment. He is survived by his wife Lynn (Neely) O'Brian whom he married on April 27, 1958; three daughters and son in-law, Mary and James Wade of Washington, Nancy Sorgenfrey of Mt. Vernon, and Paula O'Brian of Washington; two sons and daughters in-law, Kenneth and Julie O'Brian of Naples, Florida, and John and Susie O'Brian of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers and sisters in-law, Jim and Carol O'Brian of Montgomery, and Pat and Judy O'Brian of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Louise Donaldson of Washington; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David O'Brian on August 18, 1985; and one sister, Patty Norris in 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Leo Kiesel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 PM at, with a wake service at 4 PM and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 PM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Also visitation will be on Tuesday from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Memorial Donations may be made to Catholic Education Endowment at P.O.
