Vera Newland age 85 of Washington passed away on Monday at 5:50 PM at Washington Nursing Center. She was born on November 11,1920 in Washington to the late Victor and Beatrice (Cavanaugh) Truelove. She married John Newland on February 19,1939 and he preceded her in death on October 19,2004. She was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church. Surviving is two sons; John Pierce ( Ruth) Newland of St. Louis, Mo. and William (Brenda) Newland of Washington, three daughters; Janet (Larry ) Pitt of Louisville, Ky., and Barbara (Thomas) Cosgrove of Springfield, Il., and Marilyn ( Robert ) Krider of Cincinnati, Ohio. and one sister, Dorothy Saal of Santa Rosa, Ca. Also surviving is 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband, one granddaughter Christine Newland and one sister; Camilla Hauck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Leo Kiesel. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary with a wake service at 4:00 PM. Memorial donations may be sent to Southern Care Hospice or Washington Catholic Education Endowment.
