Obituary
Virgil "Pat" Williams, age 77, of Alfordsville, passed away at 9:12 p.m. Monday at Loogootee Nursing Center. Born October 29, 1934 in Loogootee, he was the son of Walter H. and Flora (Doyle) Williams. He was a graduate of Alfordsville High School and a U.S. Army veteran. He retired in 1980 from NSWC. He was a member of the Alfordsville Christian Church and the Glendale Masonic Lodge. He loved hunting, fishing, farming, and any outdoor activity. He was an IU and Barr-Reeve basketball fan. Surviving is his wife, Phyllis (Shelton) Williams, whom he married May 28, 1961; a son, Roger Williams of Loogootee; a daughter, LaRita (Greg) Taylor of Alfordsville; two brothers, Carl Williams of Florida, and Herb Williams of Danville; a sister, Ruth Harris of Morrisville; three grandchildren, Brittney Taylor and Haley Taylor both of Loogootee, and Michelle Williams of Shoals; and a great-grandson, Brennan Williams of Shoals. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Harold Williams and Donald Williams. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Alfordsville Christian Church with Bro. Jimmy Butters, Bro. Alfred Helms, and Bro. Ed Frost officiating. Burial will follow in the Alfordsville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary and 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alfordsville Christian Church, 6386 S.
