Tena J. Williams went to her heavenly home on August 31, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, love, and wonderful memories shared with the many people who were fortunate enough to know her.

Tena was born on February 20, 1956 to Ambrose “Hootie” and Nancy (Myers) Dant in Washington, Indiana. She graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1974 and continued her education at Vincennes University, where she earned an associate degree in accounting. Tena spent more than 25 years working in sales, a career well suited to her outgoing personality and natural way with people.

To know Tena was to know laughter. She had a wonderful sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and a smile that could brighten any room she walked into. She had a way of making people feel comfortable and welcome, and her fun-loving spirit made her someone people simply enjoyed being around. So many knew and loved her as “Aunt Tena,” whether they were related by blood or simply lucky enough to be loved by her.

Tena was also incredibly talented and seemed to have a gift for just about anything she put her hands to. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, cooking and baking, and settling in with a good book. Whether she was creating something beautiful, making something delicious, sharing a laugh, or spending time with the people she loved, Tena brought her own special touch to everything she did.

Above all, Tena will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of others. She was funny, loving, talented, and full of life. Her contagious laughter, bright smile, and unforgettable personality made an impression that will remain with those who loved her long after her passing. The world is a little quieter without her laughter in it, but the love and happiness she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Those left to cherish Tena’s memory include her mother, Nancy Dant; sister, Mona (Jeff) Barnard; sister-in-law, Cathy Dant; nieces and nephews, Courtney (John) Memering, Patrick (Natasha) Dant, Angela (Aric) Mitchell, Aubrey (David) Riddle, and Craig (Darah) Dant; along with several beloved great-nieces and great-nephews and the many others who lovingly knew her as “Aunt Tena.”

Tena was preceded in death by her father, Ambrose “Hootie” Dant; her beloved son, Brock Williams; her brother, Tim Dant; and her beloved dog and faithful companion, Rocky, who held a very special place in her heart.

Tena leaves behind far more than memories—she leaves behind the laughter she shared, the love she gave, and a little bit of her light in every life she touched. Those who knew and loved Aunt Tena will forever be able to hear that contagious laugh, remember that beautiful smile, and be grateful for the joy of having had her in their lives.

Visitation for Tena will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Ed L. Lee Mortuary. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m., with Yvonne Evans officiating.

Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
