Stella R. Hughes, age 88, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Thursday at Daviess Community Hospital. She was born Feb 10, 1926 to Matthew and Ellen (Murphy) Wilson in Corning. She married Thomas E. Hughes on May 13, 1946 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Evansville, Indiana. Stella was a member of St. Peter Catholic church in Montgomery. She devoted her life to her family. She is survived by five children; Martha Jean (Harley) Burkhart of Washington, Linda (Mark) Strange of Montgomery, Denny (Jane) Hughes of Kentucky, Theresa (Galen) Yoder of Montgomery and Peggy (Tim) Hogan of Bloomington, Indiana; fifteen grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hughes; four sisters, Agnes Remmel, Cecilia Grannan, Mary Fullerton, and Pearl Royster; and two brothers, Cletus Wilson and Lawrence Wilson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 4th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father James Koressel as celebrant. Burial to follow in St. Peter''s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 pm Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
