Shirley Wade went to her heavenly home on May 12, 2026.
Shirley was born on November 26, 1944, in Newberry, Indiana, to Berniece (Shafer) and Parmer Lee. Shirley graduated from Switz City High School in 1962. She married William “Bill” Wade on April 17, 1993. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Shirley lived a life centered around faith, family, and simple joys that brought happiness to those around her.
Shirley worked as a cook for the Washington Catholic School, where she was known for her caring nature and warm heart. She enjoyed gardening, playing Bingo and Pull Tabs, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, and especially treasured the time she spent surrounded by her family. Her laughter, kindness, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A devoted member of St. Peter Church and the Daughters of Isabella, Shirley’s faith remained an important part of her life and guided the love and compassion she shared with others.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, William “Bill” Wade; her children, Brian (Mary) Kollmeyer, Lisa Carrico, and Cynthia (Jason) Colvin; her stepchildren, James (Shannon) Warne and Robert (Christina) Warne; her beloved grandchildren, Kira Ayers, Brandon Spears, Erika (Curt) Bault, Joshua Kollmeyer, Jessica Skomp, Zachary (Angel) Moore, Brooke Moore, and Clayton, Keyton and Mikayla Colvin; 16 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Jeanette Devine and Sharon (Mike) Akles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Berniece and Parmer Lee; her sister, Nancy Devine; her brother, William Lee; her great-grandson, Carson Smith; and her stepson, Samuel Warne Jr.
Though her family’s hearts are heavy with loss, they find comfort in knowing Shirley’s love will continue to live on in the many lives she touched, and in the countless memories that will forever be cherished.
