Shirley
Lanza
Nov 12, 1935 — Aug 24, 2026
Shirley W. Lanza, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on August 24, 2026.
Shirley was born on November 12, 1935, in Washington, Indiana, to James and Rose Ann (Alvy) Baker. She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1953 and went on to build a long and dedicated career with Phoenix Industry, where she worked as a supervisor until her retirement. Shirley was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Above all else, Shirley was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family held a special place in her heart, and some of her greatest joy came from simply spending time with those she loved. She treasured the moments shared with her children and especially enjoyed being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to mourn Shirley’s passing are her children, Robert (Sheila) White Jr., Debra Joyce, and Lori (Scot) Brewer; her grandchildren, Jason (Mary) Joyce, James (Dustin Wallace) Joyce, Gavin Lett, Devin (Tia) Lett, Robert White III (Serena), Jodie (Edgard) White, Rickie (Jacinda) Reese, Mickie (Jenna) Reese, and Codie (Linley) Brewer; and seven great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rose Ann Baker; her husband, Johny Lanza; and her siblings, James Baker, William Baker, and Eleanor McCrary.
Shirley will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family and for the many memories created throughout a life centered around those she held dear. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will continue to live on through the generations of her family.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
