Ruth Elizabeth Riester, age 98 of Washington, passed away at 10:43 AM at Daviess Community Hospital. She was born on June 9, 1915 in Washington to C. Arthur and Caroline (Riester) McCord. She was a graduate of Washington Catholic High School and was a beautician for many years. She was a highly respected, active, charter member of the Daughters of Isabella where she had served as local circle regent of Local 598 and also served as State of Indiana Auditor for the State Daughters of Isabella. She also was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Beta Sigma Phi, Gamma Tau Chapter, and Washington American Legion Auxillary. She is survived by three daughters, Ann Newton of Wisconsin, Marilyn Eddy of Michigan City; and Jane (Kenneth) Fields of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; one son Peter ( Barbara ) Riester of Michigan City; three sister, Evelyn Fox of Petersburg Jean Graber of Charleston, SC, AND Dottie Mills of Evansville; 16 GRANDCHILDREN; and 37 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Riester on February 21, 1994 whom she had married on November 28, 1942. She also was preceded I n death by five sisters, Lillian McCord, Catherine McCord, Hilda Coatney, Betty Daily, and Helen Cooper. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday at our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Friday with a Wake service at 3:30 PM followed by a Daughters of Isabella rosary at Ed Lee Mort
