Richard “David” Shreves, 75, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026. He was born on May 16, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, to Betty Stamper and Pink Shreves.
On April 22, 1977, David married the love of his life, Nancy Cecille (Arney) Shreves. Together they shared more than 45 years of marriage filled with love, memories, and adventures. The two especially enjoyed taking cruises together each year, creating cherished memories that David carried closely in his heart after her passing.
David worked for many years as a stocker at Walmart, where his hardworking nature and friendly personality were appreciated by many. Outside of work, he enjoyed the simple things in life that brought him happiness and connection with others. He loved collecting chess sets and spending time playing chess and dominoes. David was talented with his hands and could often be found tinkering in the garage or woodworking on various projects.
More than anything, David will be remembered for his generous heart and selfless spirit. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer someone a ride, or open his home to those in need. Whether it was sharing a meal, offering a shower, or simply giving kindness freely, David made people feel cared for and welcomed. He had a compassionate soul that touched many lives throughout the years.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Michael Shreves; Robert (Katrinia) Ramirez; Kimberly (Jason) Mitchell; and Patricia (Robert) Osgatharp; his siblings, Danny (Mel) Shreves and Nora (James Treadway) Jaramillo; along with several extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Stamper and Pink Shreves; his beloved wife, Nancy Shreves; and his sisters, Brenda Shreves and Delores Creamer.
David’s kindness, generosity, and caring heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family finds comfort in the many lives he touched through his quiet acts of love and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Ed L. Lee Mortuary. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jesse Germany officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
