Philip L. May, age 92, of Washington, passed away at 9:37 PM on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Washington Nursing Center. He was born on September 20, 1921 in Washington to Roy and Mabel (McCrary) May. Philip entered the US Navy on November 4, 1940 and served his country in both World War II and the Korean War before he retired from the military on December 26, 1961. After his military career he worked for Superior Steel Ball for 28 years. Philip is survived by his wife, Diane J. (Berry) May whom he married on February 14, 1980; four daughters, Desiree (Tom) Looft of Iowa; Shannon Young of Mt Carmel, Illinois; Charlotte Carroll of Oregon; and Mira May of Indianapolis and Tyger (Paul) Stone of Washington; grandchildren, Amber Anderson, Haylee Smith, Shanna Carroll, Adam Carroll , Becky Williams, Kimberly Livingston, Joseph Looft, and Angel Looft; brothers, Asil May and Dudley May of Washington; sisters Juanita House, Washington, Frieda Arthur of Odon, Naomi Thomas and Nina Way of Washington, Vera Rogowski of Florida, and Carol Rediger of Arizona and sixteen grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sisters Virginia Robinson and Rosemary Fiddler and brothers Laverne May and Leon May. Funeral services for Philip May will be Wednesday July 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Ed Lee Mortuary with Pastor Kenneth Wells officiating. Visitation will be at from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Ed Lee Mortuary. There will be full military graveside rites conducted by the Washington VFW and American Legion.
