Monica M. Parsons, age 70, of Washington, passed away at St Vincent Hospital in Evansville, January 30, 2018.

She was born on December 31, 1947 in Alfordsville to Thomas and Letha (Raney) Hughes. She had graduated from Washington High School in 1965 and retried from Washington Nursing Center where she had worked as a Qualified Medical Assistant. She loved crafts, painting ceramics and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, John Parsons, whom she married, August 20, 1990; daughters, Gina Culver of Washington and Brandi Fields (Darrel Jennings, Sr.) of Evansville; brothers, Henry (Debbie) Hughes, Robert (Darlene) Hughes and Charles Hughes all of Washington; sisters, Sharon (Ivan) Bauer of Alfordsville and Carolyn Grubb of Bloomington; grandchildren, Brittany Culver, Makalee Culver, Alyssa Cornelius, Darrel Jennings, Jr., De'Andre Jennings, Da'Vontae Jennings and Demetrius Jennings; sister-in-law, Janet Hyde of Washington; great grandchild, Zaelynn Simpson

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Gibson; brothers, Ralph Hughes, Cecil Hughes, Delmar Hyde and Jack Hughes; grandson, Darius Jennings.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Ed Lee Mortuary with Brad Rainey officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary and from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
