Mildred 'Millie' Smith, age 86, of Washington passed away at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday, April; 28, at Daviess Community Hospital. Born July 24, 1923, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of Jacob and Nell (Herrin) Smith. She was a lifetime resident of Washington and a great fan of Washington and Indiana basketball. She retired from a long career in personnel at Crane Naval Depot where she formed many lasting friendships. She was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Surviving is her beloved brother Robert, age 93, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; a nephew, Daniel Smith and wife Sheila; two nieces, Roberta Bosler and husband Robert, and Dena Smith all of Michigan. She is missed by many great nephews and nieces, friends, and cousins, especially her good friend and cousin, Lela Dietz of Washington. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Leo Kiesel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
