Matilda "Tillie" J. Lett, age 80, of Washington passed away at 5:55 a.m. Friday at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Born May 31, 1930 in Washington, she was the daughter of Richard Henry and Hettie (Carmichael) Williams. She was a 1949 graduate of Washington Catholic High School and a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. She had worked at the Daviess Community Hospital as a nurse's aid. Surviving is her husband, Joseph Lett, whom she married November 22, 1962; a son, Michael Lee Lett of Hillsboro, Ill.; a daughter, Linda Lou Walls of Washington; two brothers, Tom Williams of Vincennes and Daniel Williams of Indianapolis; two sisters, Julia A. Boothe of Vincennes and Margaret Bingham of Washington; five grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Lori Eisenhut; and several nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George H. and John H. Williams; and two sisters, Dorothy Williams and Virginia Clark. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Leo Kiesel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
