Obituary

Mary Edith Hayes, age 89, of Washington, passed away on Thursday at 5:10 AM at Washington Nursing Center. She was born on September 29, 1919 in Daviess County to Leo and Sadie (Cullivan) Colvin. She had worked at UniRoyal, Larkin's Red and White, and Arnold's Red and White. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband William "Bill" Hayes; four daughters and sons in-law, Jan and Bob Grider of Crossville, Illnois, Brenda and Dick Mangel of Holland, Diane and Stan McCarty of Washington, and Karen and Rick Sponn of Washington; six grandchildren, Bobby, Rebecca, Beth, Eric, Jeff, and Matt; one step granddaughter, Trina; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Esther Amsden, Ruth Flaherty, Ermil Brown, Mildred Spaulding, Norma Werden, and Helen Seal; and three brothers, Orville Colvin, Frank Colvin, and Ralph Colvin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father James Koressel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 8 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary with a wake service at 4 PM. Memorial donations Condolences may be scent online at www.edleemortuary.com
