Mary a (Cheek)  Elliott, age 91,  Washington, passed away at 9:55 PM on Wednesday at Hillside Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on January 20, 1928 in Lawrence County to Matthew and Birdie (Smith) Cheek . She graduated from Bedford High School, Married Sherrill Elliott on September 19, 1947 and lived in Bedford before moving to Washington in 1959.

She was a teacher's aid at the West End School from 1968 to 1969 school year. For may years of her life she was a cashier at various grocery stores.  When anyone need a babysitter , Mary was frequently called upon. Over the years she took care of over 50 children, many who drop by to see her in her home where she lived for 46 years. Mary was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she attended till she was no longer able to attend.

She is survived by three sons , Brent (Carol) Elliott of Washington, Dr. Jay (Terri) Elliott of Arnold, Missouri; and Matt (Heather) Elliott of Washington; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband; patents; two brothers, Raymond and Orville Ckeek .

Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 12 noon at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel 620 East Viola Avenue Washington, Indiana, with Pastor Louis Showers officiating. Entombment will follow in Sugarland Memory Gardens mausoleum. Visitation will be from 10 AM till 12 Noon on Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel.
