Mary Ella Sullivan age 81 of Washington went to be with the Lord at 10:35 a.m. Thursday at her residence. She was born June 29, 1926 in Daviess County to Francis Marion and Myrtle Evelyn (McCormick) Smith. She was a 1944 graduate of Washington Catholic High School, a member of St. Simon Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Washington Garden Club, and Daviess Community Hospital Auxiliary where she served as a past president. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and James Wichman of Seymour, In., and Vicki and Neil Culver of Garland, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Cita Sullivan of Washington and Michael and Andera Sullivan of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Preceding her in death is her husband, Leo J. Sullivan, whom she married July 13, 1946 and he died March 23, 1988. One brother, Robert Smith, and two sisters, Anna Merriam Smith and Frances Ruble, are also deceased. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
