Marjorie Sue Wingfield, 87, went to her heavenly home on September 21, 2026.

Sue was born on October 9, 1938, in Washington, Indiana, to Martin “Pete” and Mary Alice (Baumert) Reel.

On February 18, 1956, Sue married the love of her life, Thomas Wingfield. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 58 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2014. Their years together were filled with family, love, and many cherished memories, including motorcycle trips they enjoyed taking together.

Sue spent 37 years at Jay C Food Store, where she retired as Head Cashier. Never one to sit still for long, she later worked as Bar Manager at the Eagles during her retirement years. Her warm and personable nature made it easy for Sue to know people wherever she went, and she had a way of making others feel welcome.

Affectionately known as “Suzy Q,” Sue was truly a lady in every sense of the word. She was classy, kind, loving, and carried herself with a grace that was uniquely her own. Above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother whose family meant everything to her. Her love extended far beyond titles and generations, and she had a special way of making those around her feel cared for.

Sue knew how to enjoy life. She loved bowling, bingo, trips to the casino, and Sunday card games. Some of her most treasured times were simply spent with family. She especially cherished the bond she shared with her three sisters and the time they spent together through the years. Sue also had a soft spot for her sons-in-law, whom she loved dearly. She even had plenty of love to spare for her beloved fish, Gilbert, who held a special place in her heart.

Sue was a member of the Eagles, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, and VFW. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a faithful member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish Sue’s memory include her daughters, Becky (Tim) Ash, Brenda (Bill) Devine, Pam (Rock) Showalter, and Tommi (Jack) Hamilton; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Debbie Baker and Cheryl (Shannon) Higgins. Her large and loving family stands as a beautiful reflection of the life and legacy she leaves behind.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Martin “Pete” and Mary Alice Reel; her beloved husband, Thomas Wingfield; her son, Thomas Wingfield Jr.; her brother, David Reel; her sister, Georgia Austin; her granddaughters, Andrea Boes and Rachael Graves; her great-grandson, Memphis Riker; her great-great-grandchildren, Daisy and Ryan Riker; and her brothers-in-law, Clay Baker and Ronald “Ratchet” Austin.

Sue leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family that was blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, and “Suzy Q.” She will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her unmistakable class, and the love she so freely gave. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the grace, laughter, and love she brought into the lives of others will continue through the many generations of the family she treasured so dearly.

Visitation for Sue will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., with Father Tyler Underhill serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
