Lucas E. Mattes, age 19, of Washington, passed away January 12, 2018.

He was born on October 12, 1998 in Evansville to Rachel Mattes.  He had attended Washington High School and was a past member of the NJ ROTC, receiving outstanding cadet his freshman year. Lucas loved animals and never met a dog he didn't like.

He is survived by his mother Rachel Mattes; grandfather, Larry Mattes; two brothers Dakota Mattes and Sam Mattes; one sister, Breana Mattes; aunts and uncle, Sarah (Edward) Stuckey and Rebecca Mattes of Indianapolis; three cousins, Kennedy Stuckey, Kristen Stuckey and Nevaeh Mattes.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marilyn Mattes and sister Kaitlyn Mattes.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Rev John Dunn officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM– 1:00 PM on Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Central Christian Church Congo Fund, 10 W Van Trees St, Washington, IN 47501 or Washington High School Naval ROTC, 608 E Walnut St, Washington, IN 47501.
