Obituary

Lois B. Hart went to her heavenly home on September 11, 2026.

Lois was born on September 30, 1931, in Burns City, Indiana, to Floyd “Casey” and Helen (Lents) Jones. She graduated from Loogootee High School and later married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Hart, whom she first met at the skating rink when they were teenagers. The two were married on March 15, 1952, and together raised six children and built a wonderful life centered around faith, family, and a deep love for one another. Lois remained devoted to Bob throughout their 55 years of marriage until his passing on April 29, 2007.

Lois was a humble, caring woman who genuinely enjoyed people. She was sociable and always kept herself busy, but when someone needed her, she rose to the occasion without hesitation. She never sought recognition for the things she did; helping others was simply part of who she was.

While raising her family was always her most important role, Lois also worked outside the home. In her earlier years, she tended to the hen house before later working as a secretary at Uniroyal, where she eventually retired. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, playing cards with her card clubs, and, most of all, spending time with her family.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Lois was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and several prayer groups. She quietly lived her faith through her kindness, humility, and willingness to care for those around her.

Those left to cherish Lois’s memory include her daughters, Karen (John) Olsen and Jamie Armes; sons, Kevin Hart, Brett Hart, Jeff Hart, and Brian (Michelle) Hart; grandchildren, Keshena (Neil), Erik, Nick (Amanda), Kelli, Marie, Kelena, and Jessica; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd “Casey” and Helen Jones; her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Hart; her son-in-law, John Armes; and her siblings, Barbara Allen, Maudie McRoberts, Orum Jones, and Lee Jones.

Lois leaves behind the memory of a life well lived—a life filled with family, faith, friendship, and service to others. She will be remembered for her humble heart, her willingness to lend a hand, and especially for the love she had for Bob and the family they created together.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Father Steven McGinnis officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lois’s memory to the Travis Burkhart Foundation or Daviess County Right to Life.
