Linus M. Buchheit, age 91 passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg, IN.
Linus was born May 22, 1928 in Old Appleton, Missouri to Leo and Anna (Ponder) Buchheit. Linus graduated from Perryville High School. He was ranked Quartermaster 2 in the Navy Reserves from 1948-1956. He was currently working at the Country Oaks Golf Club in Montgomery. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, numerous golf and bowling leagues and Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. During his golfing years he made 3 holes in one and was a 3rd Degree Knight. He loved IU Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by his wife Bernetta (Buerck) Buchheit who he married on October 25, 1952; two sons Dean (Kathy) Buchheit of Washington and Kevin (Grace) Buchheit of Indianapolis; three daughters Deborah (Kent) Kassel, Cindy (Mike) Davis and Michele (Brad) Rainey all of Washington; brother Martin (Pepper) Buchheit of Washington; ten grandchildren Kris Kassel, Jonah Buchheit, Justin Buchheit, Amie Hillyard, Gretchen Berry, Joshua Davis, Anna Buchheit, Kate Buchheit, Nathanial Rainey, Nolan Rainey and step-grandchild Jeremy Graves and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Linus is preceded in death by his parents; eleven siblings; son-in-law Kent Kassel and grandson Nick Rainey.
Private graveside services will be held.
