Leona Frances Petty age 91 of Washington passed away on Sunday at 12:20 AM at Washington Nursing Center. She was born on January 8, 1916 in Daviess County to James and Lucy (Wathen) Riney. She was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. Surviving are three daughters and sons in-law, Regina M. and Jim Alberti, Melba A. and Jim Fox, and Kathy and Bill Greene all of Washington; three sons and daughters in-law, Morris E. and Karen Petty, Mack and Susie Petty, and Mark E. and Sheila Petty all of Washington; two sisters, Norma Oathout and Camilla Smith both of Indianapolis; 15 Grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Petty on January 3, 2002 whom she had married on April 10, 1939. Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Gail R. Petty; one great grandson, Nathan Davis; and five brothers, Austin Riney, Leo Riney, Leon Riney, Lawrence Riney, and Robert Riney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM at St. Simon Catholic Church with a wake service at 4 PM Memorial donations may be made to Washington Catholic Education Endowment Ed Lee Mortuary is handling arrangements.
