Karyl L. Edwards, 89, of Washington, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
Born on October 4, 1936, in Bicknell, Indiana, Karyl was the beloved daughter of Archie and Beulah Boyd. She graduated from Sandborn High School with the Class of 1955.
On May 18, 1968, Karyl married the love of her life, William “Jim” Edwards. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion, sharing many wonderful years together until his passing in 2021.
Karyl dedicated part of her life to caring for others as a nurse aide in the obstetrics department at the hospital. She had a loving heart balanced with a gentle firmness, and those who knew her admired both her strength and compassion. Above all else, Karyl believed that family came first. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding her greatest joy in caring for and loving her family.
She found happiness in life's simple blessings. Karyl enjoyed crocheting, reading her Bible, and spending time with those she loved most. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was a faithful and devoted member of Bethany Christian Church. Her quiet kindness, steadfast faith, and selfless love will be remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Those left to cherish Karyl's memory include her children, Keith Edwards, Jamey Babrick, and Kent (Natasha) Edwards; her grandchildren, Brett Edwards, Amy Edwards, Josh Edwards, Jakob Babrick, and Kyle Edwards; her great-grandchildren, Kayden Edwards and Rainyra Robin Babrick; her sister, Sondra Sullivan; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Karyl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William J. Edwards; her parents, Archie and Beulah (Hornback) Boyd; her son, Kevin Edwards; her son-in-law, Rodney Babrick; her grandson, Daekota Babrick; her sisters, Karen Page and Kay Frances Boyd; and her brother, Roy Franklin Boyd.
A funeral service celebrating Karyl's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Ed L. Lee Mortuary. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow at Sugarland Memory Gardens.
Though Karyl's gentle presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, quiet strength, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.
